TUTORIAL - HENRY-LOUIS GUILLAUME

The presentation will focus on the implementation of the cross-polarisation photogrammetric acquisition workflow of the 19th century bronze statues of the ARC USINE Uses of Sculpture and Industrialization : New Evolvements aims at studying the consequences of the industrial revolutions on the techniques and practices of sculpture since the end of the 18th century project. Methodologically, USINE aims at setting up an innovative investigation method based on the 3D digital survey of sculpture by photogrammetry and the use of a platform (hypertext link) for the annotation and the interpretation of technological markers. The presentation will be divided into a part presenting the prerequisites of a high definition 3d photogrammetric acquisition of objects whose material presents strong reflections of light as well as the method of colorimetric correction adapted to the acquisition material used as well as a second practical part presenting the hardware used as well as its parameter setting.

Henry-Louis Guillaume is graduated from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2008 with a degree in Human and Social Sciences with a major in Archaeology, specialising in applied computer science in Archaeology, with a focus on the Internet and geographic information systems (GIS). During his studies, he took courses in the creation and management of archaeological databases, was an assessor in the faculty's computer laboratory (UFR 03) and created a web portal for the International Pre and Protohistoric Union (UISPP). He then completed a second master (LLN - Belgium) in History of Art and Archaeology in 2012 and was Scientific Collaborator at the Institut des civilisations, arts et lettres (CEMA), during which time he gave an introduction course on databases in Archaeology, on univariate and multivariate statistics and on the interest of the internet medium for scientific publications to Master students. CEO of a web agency in Luxembourg until March 2016 (OpenSkill SARL), he developed products such as CMS and Web 2.5 websites (massive use of Mysql, PGSQL and MariaDB databases), managed the machine infrastructure and structured the clients' content to be placed in databases. In parallel, he started in 2014 to study computer graphics in 3D architecture and motion design at the Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard (Namur - Belgium). He did his internship at the LISA laboratory during which he participated in the processing of point clouds from laser scans, such as the El Castillo cave, the Brussels City Hall and the St-Michel statue: manual retouching, meshing, texturing and decimation. In 2017, he finished his thesis on the cinematographic reconstruction of the last day of the archaeological site of Sissi and was hired as a research logistician for the interfaculty technology platform Panorama, specialised in 3D digital acquisition of heritage. Currently, Henry-Louis Guillaume is logistician of an ARC project on the 3D acquisition and analysis of 19th century bronze statues and has started a PhD in archaeometry at the Université libre de Bruxelles.
